A Grandmother shows her love with gifts that give back
We took time to reflect on some of the joyous and monumental moments that shaped our 2020.
One special supporter in particular Anne Collins, one of our dedicated monthly donors, decided to celebrate Christmas by giving Gifts of Joy on behalf of each of her five grandchildren. Instead of giving the usual gifts of toys and clothes, Anne wanted to give memorable gifts, while also teaching her grandchildren about the needs of children around the world.
Anne and each one of her grandchildren selected something from our Gifts of Joy catalogue to help change a child’s life in some of the world’s most deprived communities. Her eldest granddaughter learned about the need for clean water to minimize the spread of diseases and selected the Clean Water Project. Her 5-year-old grandson selected Mosquito Nets after being intrigued with how to protect girls and boys from malaria in mosquito-prone areas.
Anne plans to make this an annual family tradition, as a way to show gratitude while helping children in crisis in Canada and all over the world. “Inspired”, was the word Anne used to describe how she felt by giving Gifts of Joy. She was happy to see how enthused her grandchildren were about helping children in need.
We are so grateful to Anne and her family, along with all of you who purchased Gifts of Joy in 2020.
Gifts of Joy is not only for the holiday season. It’s the perfect way to celebrate any special occasion – you could spread the love this upcoming Valentines Day, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day – and make lasting change in a child’s life.
