One Month Out: Emergency response timeline in Haiti
One month ago, a devastating earthquake struck Haiti, destroying millions of homes and putting just as many children at risk. The people of Haiti, are in desperate need of basic necessities and emergency support. Many children lost parents and guardians and need immediate protection from dangers including neglect, abuse and even trafficking.
Thankfully, our dedicated champions for children took immediate action and contributed to provide emergency resources and necessities, including cash transfers, child protection, clean water, tarpaulin, learning spaces for children, health and nutrition, and psychosocial support.
Here is a timeline of our response in Haiti so far, to highlight the impact of our generous supporters
Unfortunately, catastrophic events like last month’s earthquake are becoming more and more frequent because of the impact of climate change. From flash floods, earthquakes, hurricanes and wild fires, children and their families across the world are at risk of having their worlds disrupted, and often times with no warning.
We never know when or where another devastating weather event will strike, but we do know that we are dedicated to being one of the first on the ground to provide immediate and emergency support for children whose futures may be at risk.
