Summary of Position
Reporting to the Head of Thematic Quality the Advisor, Child Protection is responsible for providing support to the design, monitoring, evaluation and reporting on child protection within a program portfolio of Save the Children Canada. The position will play a key role in supporting efforts to contribute to the Children & Work Task Group of Save the Children International’s Child Protection Global Initiative, in addition to supporting the design and funding of new project initiative.
Accountabilities
- Support head office program staff and country offices to strategically develop, and integrate child protection in all programming areas through training, learning and knowledge sharing activities
- Provide quality Child Protection support and advice to Save the Children programs with a particular focus on strengthening quality results and shared learning in the area of “working children”
- Advocate within networks and coalitions for improved policy implementations and resource mobilization in support of Save the Children Canada’s strategic goals and areas of focus
- Promote Save the Children’s “ Children and Work” strategy, identifying and following up on opportunities for interaction and synergy with Save the Children International
- Creates high quality narrative reports and proposals that are complete and timely
- Collaborates with Communications, Resource Development and Program teams to ensure accurate and appropriate project messaging in all relevant materials
- Collaborates with program staff in joint initiatives and identify and develop new projects and programs
- When requested, represent Save the Children Canada at relevant conferences and workshops
- Identifies best practices and research to strengthen Children and Work programming and ensures learning contributes to Save the Children International knowledge management in this area

Requirements
- A post graduate University degree in Social Sciences with academic training in international development, Children’s rights or appropriate
- 3-5 Years work experience with an international development organization with a focus on children’s rights and child protection
- Experience in developing and delivering successful training and staff development initiatives
- Good familiarity, networking and working relationships with different donors and other partner organizations
- French and Spanish language skills strongly desirable

- Valid Passport
- Able to travel internationally
- Subject to police check/clearance (child protection policy)
- Demonstrates strong commitment to Save the Children’s Mission, Vision and Values. Previous experience with child rights programming will be an advantage
- Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality, age, sensitivity and fully comply with Save the Children’s Protection Policy and Guidelines
