Save the Children is happy to welcome the Government of Canada’s investment to support economic growth for Palestinians. As part of the $50 million commitment from the Canadian government, Save the Children will be implementing a project that addresses gender-based barriers to entrepreneurship.

The $8 million, “Empowering Female Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs” program will help women and girls access the skills and tools needed to support their businesses and build a more inclusive Palestinian economy.

Save the Children’s programming will deliver sustainable entrepreneurial opportunities which enable women and girls to take a leadership role in their communities and have a stronger voice in shaping their future. It will help build resilience among Palestinians and break down a variety of blockages that impede business opportunities based on gender, especially for low-income female youth.

“This funding will mean thousands of women and girls can build a brighter, more prosperous future for themselves. Empowering girls to build up their businesses and communities is an essential part of creating a sustainable economy in West Bank and Gaza and gives girls agency to make autonomous decisions,” said Save the Children President and CEO, Bill Chambers. “With our local teams in West Bank and Gaza, we look forward to working closely with our government partners and trusted local stakeholders to implement a successful program.”
